The Central Lake

From the very beginning, the central lake had a special significance for the garden. Visitors were once able to cross the lake by boat.

The lake used to be known as the "Lac du Tempé", a name which refers to the Greek Vale of Tempe which lies between Mount Olympus and the Mount Ossa, and extraordinarily beautiful incision in the landscape which had a very important role in the cult of Apollo.
