'O happy solitude, O sole happiness' is written on the wall above the wooden bench.

Probably created in 1812, this inscription would have had Christian connotations. It has a direct correlation with the hermitage and with the Christian faith. It is left to interpretation whether the text refers to retreat and reflection on your beliefs and on yourself or whether it refers to the retreat into nature in a landscape garden like this one.
